This is Book V of the twelfth century Codex Calixtinus, the medieval pilgrim's guide to the routes of the Camino de Santiago traditionally attributed to Aymeric Picaud, here in William Melczer's scholarly English translation published by Italica Press in 1993. As a primary text in careful modern translation it is the correct source for the content of this medieval account of the pilgrimage routes, its stopping places and its warnings to travellers. Its limit is that it was written to promote the pilgrimage to Santiago in its own twelfth century context, not to describe how the routes are walked today, so a claim about the modern Camino needs a contemporary source rather than this medieval guide.
