The Sabian Symbols in Astrology

The Sabian Symbols is Marc Edmund Jones's own presentation of a system of symbolic images assigned to each of the 360 degrees of the zodiac, a technique he devised and first published in 1953 through the Sabian Publishing Society. As a primary statement of an astrologer's own invented interpretive system, presented with his own commentary and offered on the strength of his own authority rather than tested against any outside criterion, the atlas holds it at the tier appropriate to that kind of source, the same standing given to other practitioners' primary statements of a theory of their own devising. Its value is documenting a real and lasting strand of twentieth century astrological practice in the words of the system's actual originator, not evidence the symbols describe anything beyond what the tradition itself claims.
