The Texts of the White Yajurveda

Ralph T. H. Griffith was a nineteenth century Sanskritist, and this 1899 publication is his standard English translation of the Shukla, or White, Yajur Veda, one of the four Vedas of Hindu scripture. As a translation of primary scripture it is the correct source for the text's content in accessible English. Its limit is its age, Griffith's Victorian-era translation predates over a century of subsequent Vedic scholarship and uses period vocabulary and interpretive choices that a modern academic translation would render differently, so a claim resting on a specific nuance of meaning should be checked against a more recent scholarly translation where precision on a contested term matters.
