On 26 March 2026, Haiti's Ministry of Culture and Communication announced the submission to UNESCO of a nomination file for the Savoir Faire du Trace Veve d'Haiti, the country's traditional practice of tracing veve, the symbolic ground drawings that open Vodou ceremonies, seeking inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The filing, made jointly with Haiti's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, its Permanent Delegation to UNESCO and its National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO, described the practice as ancestral graphic knowledge transmitted across generations, first entered on Haiti's own National Registry of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019. It followed, by nine days, a separate joint Haiti and Benin nomination already on this map for the broader living arts and social practices of Vodou, making this the second and more narrowly focused of two Vodou related submissions Haiti pursued in the same UNESCO cycle.
