Confucius's Birthday is commemorated at Confucian temples with the Shidian, a formal sacrificial ceremony of music, dance and offerings before the sage's spirit tablet, traditionally dated to the twenty seventh day of the eighth lunar month and observed on the solar calendar as Teacher's Day in Taiwan (28 September) and in various forms across mainland China, Hong Kong, Korea and Vietnam wherever Confucian temple ritual has continued or been revived.
