Juxtaposition Cross of Oppression (47/22)

The Juxtaposition Cross of Oppression is named for Gate 47 and Gate 22. Human Design reads Gate 47, from Hexagram 47, Oppression, sitting in the Ajna, as a mind working over confusion, sometimes for a long time, until sense finally arrives of itself; and Gate 22, from Hexagram 22, Grace, sitting in the Solar Plexus, as a social grace that flows or withdraws with the emotional wave rather than on demand. Juxtaposition Crosses form their own family, belonging only to the four line one profile, and Human Design reads them as the tightest, least steerable of the three kinds.

Its design half is Gate 12 and Gate 11. Gate 12 sits in the Throat and is read as expression that arrives only in the right mood and the right moment, a caution that can look like reticence; it pairs with Gate 22 in the channel of Openness. Gate 11 sits in the Ajna and is read as a mind full of ideas and concepts that want to be told, though not necessarily acted on; it pairs with Gate 56 in the channel of Curiosity.

So a chart carrying this cross waits on a mind working slowly toward sense while its social warmth answers to mood on the surface, while beneath it a cautious voice holds an untold fullness of ideas. The same four gates also underlie the Juxtaposition Cross of Grace and the Left Angle Cross of Informing. Both hexagrams are old texts; pairing them this way as a life direction dates from the system's founding in 1987.

So the worked confusion and the moody grace the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of bonding and mind, while the cautious voice and the untold fullness of ideas beneath them answer to the arcs of form and transformation. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Grace, and, held instead in the Left Angle family, the Cross of Informing, both orderings; the Right Angle family carries the identical pair too, as the Cross of Rulership, both orderings. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
