Human Design Crosses

A Human Design cross entry records one of the Incarnation Crosses of the Human Design system, Ra Uru Hu's own founding presentation of which sets out each cross as built from two pairs of I Ching gates positioned at the four fixed angles of a birth chart, one pair from the conscious personality placement and one from the unconscious design placement, read together as describing a life's overall theme or fixed direction rather than any single trait.

An entry records a cross's family, Right Angle, Left Angle or Juxtaposition, its four constituent gates and the theme practitioners within the system assign to that specific combination, following the vocabulary and structure Ra Uru Hu's own text lays out for how the crosses are built and named.

The three families are read as varying how much a life is shaped by circumstance beyond one's choosing against how much room the system holds for individual decision, Right Angle crosses read as most shaped by circumstance, Juxtaposition crosses as most self directed, and an entry states this as the system's own internal claim about itself, a practitioner's account of a system its founder built by combining older sources into a construction of his own, rather than as an independently verified psychological finding.

Human Design traces its own origin to a single reported experience: Ra Uru Hu, the name adopted by Alan Robert Krakower, described receiving the system in Ibiza, Spain in 1987, and the Jovian Archive, the organization that presents itself as successor to his own International Human Design School, is the institutional source for that founding account today, carrying direct organizational continuity with his original teaching body.

That institutional account is a self account by an interested successor organization rather than independent biography or independent historical assessment, and the founding story it tells is not otherwise documented outside the system's own practitioner literature, a limitation an entry states honestly rather than treating the account as externally verified history.

The incarnation crosses themselves rest on Ra Uru Hu's own combination of the I Ching, Western astrology, the Kabbalistic tree of life and the chakras into a single construction of his own devising, not derived in a continuous documented line from any one of those older sources, so the study of how a specific cross's meaning was assigned is, at present, a study of the founding teacher's own text and its transmission through his successor organization rather than a documented multi century history of the kind an older tradition's practices can usually draw on.
