Left Angle Cross of Dedication (23/43)

The Left Angle Cross of Dedication is named for Gate 23 and Gate 43, which are in fact the two ends of one channel, Structuring, so its exposed half is a single circuit rather than two separate pressures. Human Design reads Gate 23, from Hexagram 23, Splitting Apart, sitting in the Throat, as the voice that turns a strange individual insight into language other people can take in; and Gate 43, from Hexagram 43, Breakthrough, sitting in the Ajna, as the sudden inner knowing that arrives whole and resists easy explanation. It belongs to the Left Angle family, read as transpersonal, a direction practitioners describe as answering less to personal choice than to what circumstance hands the individual.

Its design half is Gate 30 and Gate 29. Gate 30 sits in the Solar Plexus and is read as the longing and intensity of feeling that pulls a person into experience; it pairs with Gate 41 in the channel of Recognition. Gate 29 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as a yes that, once given, perseveres to the end whatever the cost; it pairs with Gate 46 in the channel of Discovery.

So a chart carrying this cross has insight and its telling sealed into one channel on the surface, while beneath it an unresolved longing answers to a committed perseverance. The same four gates also underlie the Left Angle Cross of Dedication reversed, and recur as the Juxtaposition Cross of Assimilation and its own mirror, the Cross of Insight. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping them into one transpersonal cross is the modern system's own construction, dated to 1987.

What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering draws one gate from each of the four.

Gate 23, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form. Gate 43, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Behind them, Gate 30 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind, and Gate 29 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding.

So the telling voice and the sudden knowing the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of form and transformation, the same one unbroken channel either way, while the emotional longing and the sacral perseverance beneath them answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, the same four arcs the earlier ordering of Dedication also draws on however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. With both arrangements in place, Dedication's two gate pairs share the same wheel wide spread, one gate from each Quarter regardless of order.
