This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.
This Left Angle Cross of the Clarion is named here for Gate 51 and Gate 57, competitive shock exposed ahead of a gentle, hearing intuition. Its first article reads Gate 51 as courage that goes first and can startle others awake, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 57 as intuition in the present moment, read through hearing rather than sight. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 51, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Gate 57, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Behind them, Gate 61 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation, and Gate 62 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form.
So the startling courage and the gentle intuition the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, while the pressure to know the unknowable and the ordering of detail into speech beneath them answer to the arcs of transformation and form, the same four arcs the cross's own reversal, Gate 57 over Gate 51, also draws on however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
