Left Angle Cross of the Clarion is a Left Angle Incarnation Cross built on Gate 57 and Gate 51. Gate 57, Intuitive Clarity (Hexagram 57, The Gentle), sits in the Spleen and is read as intuition in the present moment, read through hearing rather than sight; Gate 51, Shocking Initiative (Hexagram 51, The Arousing), sits in the Heart or Will centre and is read as competitive courage that goes first and can startle others awake. It sits in the Left Angle family, and Human Design reads that group as outward facing, less a chosen plan than a role other people keep handing back. Both hexagrams are old texts; pairing them this way as a life direction dates from the system's founding in 1987.

The Clarion, a Gentle Hearing Handed Back by Circumstance

The Left Angle Cross of the Clarion carries the same pair as the earlier Cross of the Clarion with sun and earth exchanged, Gate 57 and Gate 51. Human Design reads Gate 57, from Hexagram 57, The Gentle, sits in the Spleen and is read as intuition in the present moment, read through hearing rather than sight, now the more exposed gate; and Gate 51, from Hexagram 51, The Arousing, sits in the Heart, or Will, centre and is read as competitive courage that goes first and can startle others awake. It sits in the Left Angle family, and Human Design reads that group as outward facing, less a chosen plan than a role other people keep handing back.

Its design half is Gate 62 and Gate 61, also exchanged. Gate 62 sits in the Throat and is read as the organising of facts and particulars into an order that can be spoken; it pairs with Gate 17 in the channel of Acceptance. Gate 61 sits in the Head and is read as the pressure to know the mystery behind existence; it pairs with Gate 24 in the channel of Awareness.

Putting a gentle intuition ahead of shock changes what this cross puts forward first, while a Throat that speaks detail and a Head that presses to know sit beneath it regardless of order. Both hexagrams are old texts; pairing them this way as a life direction dates from the system's founding in 1987.

The Clarion, Intuition Ahead and the Same Four Quarters

This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.

This Left Angle Cross of the Clarion completes its two role arrangements with this ordering, Gate 57 and Gate 51 exposed, a gentle intuition ahead of competitive shock. Its first article reads Gate 57 as intuition in the present moment, read through hearing rather than sight, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 51 as courage that goes first and can startle others awake. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering draws one gate from each of the four.

Gate 57, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Gate 51, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Behind them, Gate 62 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form, and Gate 61 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation.

So the gentle intuition and the startling courage the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of bonding and mind, while the ordering of detail into speech and the pressure to know the unknowable beneath them answer to the arcs of form and transformation, the same four arcs the earlier ordering of the Clarion also draws on however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. With both arrangements in place, the Clarion's two gate pairs share the same wheel wide spread, one gate from each Quarter regardless of order.
