The Left Angle Cross of Uncertainty carries the same pair as the Cross of Contribution with sun and earth exchanged, Gate 14 and Gate 8. Human Design reads Gate 14, from Hexagram 14, Possession in Great Measure, sitting in the Sacral centre, as the power skill that directs resources and effort toward work worth doing, now the more exposed gate; and Gate 8, from Hexagram 8, Holding Together, sitting in the Throat, as the urge to contribute an individual style and stand publicly behind it. It belongs to the Left Angle family, read as transpersonal, a direction answering less to what the individual chooses than to what circumstance hands back.

Its design half is Gate 59 and Gate 55, also exchanged. Gate 59 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as the energy that breaks down barriers between people; it pairs with Gate 6 in the channel of Mating. Gate 55 sits in the Solar Plexus and is read as an emotional weather swinging between melancholy and abundance; it pairs with Gate 39 in the channel of Emoting.

Putting directed resources ahead of public style changes what this cross puts forward first, while the same barrier dissolving urge and swinging mood sit beneath it regardless of order.
