This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.
The Right Angle Cross of the Four Ways completes its four role arrangements with this ordering, Gate 24 and Gate 44 exposed, a returning mind ahead of instinctive trust. Its first article reads Gate 24 as a mind circling the same thought repeatedly until it finally resolves, and Gate 44 as an instinctive memory for people and patterns, a nose for who can be relied on. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 24, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Gate 44, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Behind them, Gate 19 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation, and Gate 33 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form.
So the mind that returns to sense and the instinctive assessment of trust the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, while the felt need of the community and the private withdrawal beneath them answer to the arcs of transformation and form, the same four arcs the rest of the Four Ways family draws on however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. With this fourth arrangement in place, every role rotation of the Four Ways's two gate pairs shares the same wheel wide spread, one gate from each Quarter regardless of order.
