An oil-on-oak altarpiece panel showing Solomon enthroned, receiving the Queen of Sheba and her retinue bearing gold, spices and precious stones, the biblical episode of her visit to test and honor his wisdom. Painted by the Master of the Saint Barbara Legend, a Netherlandish painter active in the late fifteenth century, circa 1480. Held today by the Metropolitan Museum of Art under accession 32.100.56a-d, from the Friedsam Collection, bequest of Michael Friedsam, 1931.
