Apache Stronghold v. United States, en banc opinion of the Ninth Circuit

This is the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit's own en banc opinion in Apache Stronghold v. United States, decided 2024, the court's ruling on the legal claim that transferring Oak Flat for copper mining violates religious freedom protections. As the court's own primary opinion it is the correct source for what the court actually held and on what legal grounds, rather than a secondhand summary of the ruling. Its limit is that it is a legal ruling on the claim before the court, not a historical or religious studies account of Oak Flat's significance to the Western Apache, so a claim about that religious and cultural significance itself needs a source outside the litigation record.
