Is Reflexology an Effective Intervention? A Systematic Review of Randomised Controlled Trials, Edzard Ernst's 2009 article in the Medical Journal of Australia, found no convincing evidence that reflexology is effective for any medical condition. Its strength is that it is a peer reviewed systematic review by a researcher who specialized in evaluating complementary medicine, in an established national medical journal. Its limit is that a systematic review's conclusion is only as strong as the trials it reviews, and it does not itself settle whether any single specific reflexology claim might later be tested by better designed trials.
