Sikh Rahit Maryada, the Sikh Code of Conduct

This is the Sikh code of conduct issued by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the elected body that administers the historical gurdwaras, in its own institutional name. As the issuing body's own primary statement it is authoritative for what the Panth's central administering body has itself codified as correct conduct, including its position on service at the Guru Granth Sahib and on who may perform it. It is not independent outside scholarship about Sikh history or about how individual communities apply the code in practice, both of which vary and need a separate source. Use it to establish the code's own stated position on a specific point of conduct or calendar practice.
