Decisions about monastic discipline, the Vinaya being the body of rule that governs Buddhist monks and nuns. The two filed here are the ones the tradition itself keeps arguing about. One is a set of additional obligations placed on nuns, attributed to the Buddha and disputed on textual grounds within living Buddhist scholarship. The other is a list of disputed practices settled at a council, and the settlement is one of the fault lines from which the later schools ran. The atlas records the positions and who holds them, and describes these living disciplines rather than instructing in them.
