Lucifer is the demon Peter Binsfeld's sixteenth century classification assigns to pride, Superbia in the Latin naming this section uses, on the strength of Lucifer's fall from a position of honor through the sin of wanting to be greater than his creator. Binsfeld's is one of several rival demon and sin pairings compiled during and after the medieval period, not a doctrine every branch of Christianity holds, and this atlas follows it as the scheme that stuck in later popular reference.
