A clarifying card is a single additional card drawn after a spread is already complete, used specifically to resolve a card whose meaning is ambiguous, contradictory, or hard to place in context, rather than to answer a question on its own. It is read in dialogue with the card it clarifies rather than as an independent statement, and most teaching guides caution against drawing more than two or three in a single reading, since a spread's own card relationships already carry most of the clarification a reading needs.
