Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin, on the western shore of Lake Michigan, and the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Grown from French fur-trading contacts on Lake Michigan from the 1670s; Solomon Juneau's trading post of 1818 became the nucleus of Juneautown, which merged with rival settlements to form Milwaukee, incorporated as a city in 1846. 1
