Left Angle Cross of Industry (30/29)

The Left Angle Cross of Industry is named for Gate 30 and Gate 29. Human Design reads Gate 30, from Hexagram 30, The Clinging, sits in the Solar Plexus and is read as the longing and intensity of feeling that pulls a person into experience; and Gate 29, from Hexagram 29, The Abysmal, sits in the Sacral centre and is read as a sacral yes that, once given, perseveres to the end whatever the cost. It falls in the Left Angle family, which practitioners read as fated in flavour, serving something beyond the individual rather than a self chosen plan.

Its design half is Gate 34 and Gate 20, two of the four Integration gates that connect only to each other and to Gate 10 and Gate 57. Gate 34 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as pure power, most potent simply being itself. Gate 20 sits in the Throat and is read as awareness and expression that occur now rather than in reflection.

So a chart carrying this cross meets a pulling desire with a committed perseverance on its surface, while beneath it raw sacral power answers to an immediate, unreflective voice, both drawn from the closed structural group Ra Uru Hu called Integration. The numbers are inherited from the I Ching; reading them as one cross belongs to the modern reading, not the classical one.

Its first article reads Gate 30 as the longing and intensity of feeling that pulls a person into experience, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 29 as a sacral yes that, once given, perseveres to the end whatever the cost. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering draws one gate from each of the four.

Gate 30, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Gate 29, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Behind them, Gate 34 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation, and Gate 20 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form.

So the longing intensity and the committed yes the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, while the raw power and the immediate awareness beneath them answer to the arcs of transformation and form, the same four arcs the earlier ordering of Industry also draws on however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. With both arrangements in place, Industry's two gate pairs share the same wheel wide spread, one gate from each Quarter regardless of order.
