Wei Tian Zhi Ming ("This, the Mandate of Heaven") is a Zhou Song ancestral hymn from the same Decade of Qingmiao within the Shijing, praising the reigning virtue of King Wen and articulating the Mandate of Heaven, the doctrine that Heaven grants and can withdraw the right to rule based on the ruler's conduct, which the Zhou dynasty used to justify its conquest of the preceding Shang and which became foundational to later Confucian political theory.
