Agudath Israel of America's own statement on its official site, dated 26 June 2015, responding to the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges. States that the Torah, which forbids homosexual activity, sanctions only the union of a man and a woman in matrimony, and that the issue is not whether all human beings are created in the Divine Image or have inherent human dignity, which the statement affirms, but whether the Torah sanctions homosexual conduct or recognizes same gender unions, which it states plainly it does not.
