Lawrence Fine's study traces Isaac Luria and the Safed kabbalistic circle through the specific, documented chain of transmission by which Luria's own teachings reached later readers, namely through his disciples' written accounts rather than through any text Luria wrote himself, since Luria left almost nothing in his own hand. That attention to a real, checkable transmission problem, what we actually have of Luria is secondhand by design, is the book's real evidentiary contribution rather than a claim about its press. This record has not independently traced further scholarly disagreement with Fine's specific account of that transmission. Use it for established facts about Luria's teaching as it reached us through his disciples and the Safed fellowship's history.
