Origin Medieval Jewish Kabbalah, in the arrangement used here fixed by the Hermetic Kabbalah of the late nineteenth century.
Each of the ten sephirot on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life gets its own archangel under Sephirotic Archangels, a scheme developed within Hermetic Qabalah rather than inherited from classical rabbinic sources. Different magical orders assign the pairings somewhat differently, so no single list here should be read as the only one in use.

The Sephirotic Archangels
This group gathers the sephirotic archangels, the archangels assigned to the ten sephiroth of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, each presiding over one of the emanations through which, in the tradition, the divine unfolds into creation. The mapping of archangels to the sephiroth is a feature of Kabbalah and of the Hermetic Kabbalah that later drew on it.
