Upanishads groups the individual texts within that broader body of Vedic teaching, among them the Mandukya Upanishad, the shortest of the principal Upanishads and the source of the classic analysis of the syllable Om across waking, dreaming, deep sleep and a fourth state beyond them, and the Taittiriya Upanishad, known for its layered account of the self built up from food, breath, mind, understanding and bliss.
