Character and Neurosis: An Integrative View

Claudio Naranjo's Character and Neurosis, published under his own Gateways/IDHHB imprint in 1994, is the foundational text integrating the Enneagram personality typology with psychiatric character theory, and a central document in the modern psychological and self-development use of the Enneagram. As Naranjo's own synthesis it is the correct source for his own framework and its reasoning, in his own terms. Its limit is that it is a modern psychological synthesis by one clinician, not a historical source establishing the Enneagram's claimed older or ancient origins, which remain independently disputed and are not the subject this book itself sets out to prove.
